Key Revealed officially up on Kindle!

Happy Thanksgiving

It is funny how a year can pass so quickly. Halloween seems to be when I get a chance to sit down and update life.

Book 2 is still in the works, seems like I am so close yet still so far away. I was sitting yesterday, my mind off in space placing characters, when Key Revealed was brought back into the light. I put Key Revealed up on Wattpad, slowly formatting it for Kindle. By slowly I mean SSSLLLOOOWWLY.. ;-)
I decided that was it, I was going to get it done and upload it. I am pleased to inform that I actually did what I set out to do. Key Revealed is officially on Kindle as of this morning. I had contemplated Key Revealed's publishing format for some time, never sure what to do. Like everyone else who writes a novel, I sent off Query letters and patiently waited for replies. I understand that the world works differently than it used to but I figured I would give it a go. Sadly no luck, but honetly I knew I had a slim chance of hitting the literary agent jackpot.

It feels good having Key Revealed up, an accomplishment of sorts. I realize advertising will be the next priority. I will tackle that one hurdle at a time. As per usual, I like playing around with title pages. I made up another new one, take a peek.

As for life not involving writing, school has returned. Over the past years being a stay at home mom has been wonderful. I feel priveleged knowing I was lucky enough to be involved with the kids while they were small. They are not so small now, and I have found I need something of my own. Yes, I have my writing, but I need to feel somewhat accomplished. Of course my dream would be to have my book become crazy popular and be lucky enough to write as a full time job but that is just not the reality of life. Over the past 7 years I have slowly taken night classes as University, attempting to keep the brain fresh. I now have my legal office administration and 2 years of city developement courses. I did research looking for a way to combine what I had taken and found what would fall into place perfectly. I have always loved architecture and design as I am sure you can see by reading my books. Why not take that love and make a career out of it. Well, that is exactly what I plan on doing. Architectural drafting it is. I am 2 months in and yes, it is difficult but I am plugging away and love it. I can tell you one thing, I have a whole new respect for Architects of the day. We are lucky enough to have Autocad, a computer program for making plans but back in the day everything had to be done by hand. At the beginning of the program we spent a month working on the board, getting a feeling for drafting old style. The time difference in working by hand vs. computer is insane.

So as you can see, life trickles on. The kids keep me running around like crazy. My daughters afterschool activity lineup is, well, busy.

Ohh, something special. My son has found a new love. For my daughter it is easy, she kinda fits in with whatever she does but the little man has a harder time placing himself. Last year at school he was lucky enough to be in a class where he has a musically inclined teacher and he learned the Ukulele. He loved it, and a light came on. We are not a musical family so he was never introduced to it at home. I am so happy to share that he is now taking Guitar lessons and loving it. It makes my heart skip a beat seeing him so happy.

Have a good night, talk to you soon.

Happy Halloween

The summer is gone and apparently it's Halloween, WHAT! My poor children, they have been pumpkin deprived. The wet weather has not helped and the return of  my daughters nutcracker ballet rehearsals have kept us running around with our heads cut off. Never fret, today is the day. After school we are off to find those perfect pumpkins and will carve until pleased.

Writing, writing writing. I don't know how others writing schedules work but summers are basically a right off in my house. Between camping, swimming and traveling my attempts at opening my computer fail. I get to the point I don't bother trying anymore. The extra month of summer up here was no help. With the kids school on strike summer continued. Must say, was very thankful for the fabulously warm weather.

I have managed myself back into a writing routine, it took some time but here I am Blogging. That is the ultimate sign of schedule.

Now, the exciting news. Book 2's first draft is almost done. I am so close, and beyond excited. The story line will surprise and shock most definitely.

I'm off to continue Darci's story. Will keep you posted. Title to come soon. Pretty sure and confident on my decision but will wait until 100% before sharing.

Happy Halloween. Enjoy your sweets.

New Book Cover

KEY REVEALED, the book cover. I had created book covers previously but felt with a new title and large overhaul she deserved a new face. What do you think?

Re Development

Hello,
Where has the time gone? I have been playing around with my book for some time, having changed bits and pieces, as well as having another party look at editing. Yes, I realize it will never be absolutely perfect to all, but I am proud of the final product and look forward to hearing what people think.

Much has changed, Shea is no longer. KEY REVEALED, has taken front and center. It was a long play with words, with the help of a girlfriend but I am very pleased. As of present, KEY REVEALED is available on WATTPAD.  http://www.wattpad.com/51410805-key-revealed?utm_source=web&utm_medium=link&utm_content=share_info&ref_id=24647059

Wattpad is new to me, I had honestly never heard of it until reading a post from Huffingting Post. From what research I did do it looked promising. It has been a gamble, trying to figure out what to do.

Self Publishing has always been the question, as it has been from the very beginning. I read an article today that intriqued me. You see, I always thought if you uploaded your ebook to Kindle you were stuck. It was a one and only place, no sharing or uploading on any other sites. I think I was wrong!  You can actually upload to Kindle, Kobo, and Nook with no reprecusions. It this right? I sure hope so.

I will keep digging, but would appreciate anyones experience in this departement.

This is the article I was reading: http://stevevernonstoryteller.wordpress.com/2012/11/10/my-further-adventures-in-self-publishing-kobo-versus-kindle/

So happy to be back, have so much to share. All in good time. Enjoy the beautiful Sun.

Happy Summer

Hello World. It has been a while, life has been crazy busy with kids out of school. At this moment the days are full of, "what do we do today?"
When school finished, we packed and were on our way to Vancouver Island. A home away from home. The kids are always in happy land when we go to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Life always seems so much simpler, life just kind of slides by, stress free and with ease. Chickens, tractors and beaches galore make everyday an easy adventure. Sure we have a few beaches close to home but they are always very over populated and geese seem to frequent the areas... making it impossible to find a sanitary area of any size. Sitting in bird poop, not on my list of things to do in the day... Every time we go back, it seems to get harder to return. Ohhhh, and markets.. If we lived closer, Coombs country market would be a weekly trip. The deli and bakery make you drool, and the store of wooden toys, ships, moroccan decorations, art supplies and much more sweeten the shopping trip. Lets not forget the goats, the market is famous for the goats on the roof, kids gets excited every time we visit.

Our summer continues, new adventures and trips planned day by day.

Our next project, trying our hand at making fondant and decorating a cake. A first, and likely an interesting outcome shall develop. Will keep you posted on the turnout. Hopefully the cake turns out presentable and we can share a photo.

To lovely warm days, for which we have had few, and silly games keeping all occupied.

P.s. Have the wars of siblings began?

Life, Life, Life

Who knew it would be so hard to find an editor. I know many offer services online but I would like the old fashion meet and speak route. I am still on the hunt, I will find someone professional. I would love any suggestions should you have any, someone within the Vancouver, Fraser Valley area of B.C. Canada.
On another note, thank you so much for all the kind words I have received lately on pulling my book. Complete strangers have been so supportive and even congratulated me on my decision. Everything happens for a reason, I am a huge believer of this. As a first time author, you can only learn as you go.
Those who downloaded Shea before its removal are still leaving amazing messages, the story is loved.
As much as I love writing, and I keep moving forward with the sequel to Shea as well as the second series I have started, I am ready to get back to work. Not that being a stay at home mom is not work, by all degrees it is multiple jobs in one. In the average week I feel like a personal shopper, mom, wife, cook, interior decorator, cleaner, event planner, author,  and school coordinator. Definitely keeps me on my feet.
Come September life will change somewhat, both of my kidlets will be in elementary school full time. It is both exciting and slightly sad.
A new career is on the horizon and I am so over excited, all my past years of education are going to come into play and I am thrilled. You work so hard, when it comes together and provides link to a love you have, it just doesn't get any better. Yes I am playing around with words, and It will stay this way until my employment begins. Once I am established, and on my way I will divulge.
To writing, new careers, change of life, growing kidlets, and excitement.
  Cheers

Celebration, Party, Family

So my blog today is more personal related, writing has been impossible given my hubby's return. I always get the, "you pay more attention to your pen then me".  All I can do is laugh, as many of you know it is hard to stop once you get going. Sometimes I just have to make a point of putting pens, papers and whatnot away.
What a week, hubby came home after being gone some time. My 12 year anniversary and my little man's 6th Birthday. Crazy crazy busy.
I attempted my first themed party, which went over fabulously. Although I have figured out the attempt of dress up doesn't work so well with the younger kidlets. Spent many hours perfected wands in  replacement of goody bags, given we had a candy table. I figured parents would appreciate not being sent home with even more sugar treats. These are the wands, a definite  labour of love. I would love to take credit for the fabulous creations but it was not just me. Pinterest played the role of suggestion, here is the link if you are interested in attempting wands of your own. (Below Photo) Be warned, they take much time, more than I had anticipated. The link suggests filling them with hot glue but it is simply impossible. I ended up first filling the small tip with hot glue, then filling them with rice. I finished them of by hot glueing the tops. This keeps the rice in place.

Our theme was Harry Potter, magic wands fit in perfectly.

So to all parties, life enjoyments and fun. Doing our best to sneak away from writing here and there and of course finding a way to sneak back to the pen when the moment allows.
Cheers.

P.S. Finished reading The Shades of Grey Trilogy. Wow is the first word that comes to mind, and yes. They were a new kind of read for me, the first of this genre. The first was almost overwhelming but the second and third held the story tight. May find myself reading them again.
